Nepali Spring: Jun Chiyabari

A floral, spring-picked black tea with notes of grape and crisp green apple.
Clearance offer - 30% off: Was £17, now £12

A spring-picked, small batch black tea, handmade at the beautiful Jun Chiyabari Estate. Picture tea bushes fed by the melted snows of the Himalayas, washed by soft, cool rain and kissed by the sun. The pioneering Jun Chiyabari Tea Garden is at the forefront of the developing speciality tea industry in Nepal, constantly developing new techniques to produce teas that rival those of India, China and Japan in terms of quality. This is a black tea, but not as you know it, as many of its characteristics can also be found in white teas. Silky and complex, the Nepali Spring has a fresh, floral lily of the valley aroma, with a flavour that carries notes of grape and crisp green apple.

‘Himalayan Spring’ is a gorgeous, delicate fresh first flush. This is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the Nepali Himalayan Black we offered in 2016 - but equally delicious. –Alice, Head of Tea

A classic example of this delicately classy, candy-lemon fresh essentially Nepalese Darjeeling - so dry its like drinking a warm, shed kept bail of hay. Fundamentally a black tea but produced like an Oolong, best brewed at 85.c and goes well with a (non choc) Hob Nob. Sun bleached tips, Porcupine-esk in appearance from the Hile-Dhankuta hills. My #1 best tea in the world hands down.

Established in 2001, Jun Chiyabari is an organic tea garden in the eastern Himalayan region of Nepal. Sitting at an altitude of 1600-2000 meters above sea level, it enjoys cool air and plenty of moisture-the perfect climate for growing the finest, high grade teas.
Spread over four divisions totalling 96 hectares, Jun Chiyabari was a project that started from scratch with each step meticulously planned and executed with care in order to produce the very best teas. From purchasing specific areas of land to planting select tea cultivars, from designing a state of the art factory to employing the best workers from the tea industry - the underlying philosophy is quality.
The story continues today, in the garden’s 17th year, as they continue to experiment and implement new ideas whilst maintaining the same vision and philosophy.
