A raw puerh from Lao Ban Zhang village, home to the most valuable and sought after puerh in the world. This raw puerh has aged for ten years in Kunming, and a remaining three here in the Canton collection in Bristol. When brewed, its beautiful golden liquor emits sweet notes of vanilla, stewed apple and lily of the valley with a flinty minerality, enhanced by its lively and energising mouthfeel. Infuse again and again to really appreciate the whole spectrum of flavours and aromas from this very special tea.

In 2014, we purchased 14 cakes of this world renowned puerh, which very quickly sold out. We kept one at our office for a rainy day, and now that it’s had a chance to age for a further three years, we’ve decided to break it into pieces so 12 lucky people can enjoy it as part of our limited edition collection.
In the world of tea, Lao Ban Zhang is synonymous with puerh, and is home to the most expensive and sought after tea in the whole world. The village is small and remote, sitting at 1700m on Bulang Mountain, having produced puerh cakes for centuries. However it’s only in the last 20 years that the price has shot up as puerh becomes more of a status symbol. Lao Ban Zhang puerh has gained the accolade “The King of Puerh” for the past decade, for both the quality and prestige associated with it.
While many imitations exist, this is 100% Lao Ban Zhang puerh, made by members of the Mengku factory. An incredible tea to savour for its soft, sweet notes of poached autumn fruits.
