Yellow Gold Oolong

Other names: Huang Jin Gui Wu Long, Golden Osmanthus Oolong

Huang Jin Gui means Golden Osmanthus, so called because its yellowish green leaves produce a golden liquor and it has a distinct Osmanthus flower-like aroma. It is a high-grown tea from Fujian that starts with a fruity flavour but becomes more sweetly floral.

This is one of the four famous Anxi Oolongs (like Tie Guan Yin) but it is made from the top leaves of the first spring harvest in Anxi County. These leaves can be infused several times and the character changes with each brew. It has become hugely sought-after due to its delicious easy-drinking nature and its affordable price.

The main things I look for in an everyday tea are it being affordable, easy to drink, relatively easy to make, and delicious. This leaf excels in all four categories. I'm beginning to feel like Canton can do no wrong, and I love that in a tea company.
