2007 Meng Ba Na Xi Cooked Puerh Brick
2007 Meng Ba Na Xi Cooked Puerh Brick
A sensational puerh from a great factory. It delivers many infusions and has a wonderful bright clean taste in a full-bodied liquor. The woodiness is not too pronounced or green and it has a high level of sweetness. Adding a further 2 -3 more years of storage to this brick would make the liquor even smoother and sweeter.

a nice cupper Review by doug

this is a nice tea. i gave it 4 stars because i would imagine it would taste better after a few more years, but it's very nice now. however, i hate waiting, so i'll probably stick to buying older teas. quite dark colour, i bought the sample and the first two brews hardly had any taste, which was dissapointing, but i just drank the third brew and it was very refeshing with a quite subtle typical pu-erh taste. and of course, very economical !! Tea that keeps on giving Review by Paul

Like all the puerh I have so far tried, this is a fascinating brew. The 2007 Meng Ba Na cooked is an accessible and very tasty brew indeed, which has much complexity in it's sweet and subtle earthy flavours. It smells very enticing with the sweetness mingling with an ever so slight hint of fishiness in the soil-like notes. That may sound strange if you have never tried puerh before, but don't let it put you off, as it adds a layer of complexity to the mingling of flavours which makes this tea one I want to brew again and again. The taste is also lingering the mouth, revealing its depth and smoothness. It also delivers the multiple infusions and different experiences with each which is so often talked about with puerh tea. I have to admit to being relatively new to puerh. The only time I have tried raw approaching what might be considered the beginning of maturity was a 2003 wild yi wu. This is certainly not like that, but it is also an order of magnitude cheaper and offers a doorway into this very different type of tea. (Posted on 10/7/11)

Whisky and tobacco! Review by David
-
I gave my wife a sniff of this brew, and she said it smelt of whisky and tobacco. Perhaps Puerh is not a lady's tea, but at least she has a good nose. Whisky notes indeed, but sweet Speyside malt, with heather fragrance. As for the tobacco, maybe old briars with vanilla flavour. This is not one of those peaty, smoky Puerhs, it's more spring woods than autumn,, fresh earth moistened by gentle showers, foxgloves and belladonna. It gives a honey-musky taste that gently fades, requiring yet another infusion to bing it back. Well, maybe you could call it a lady's Perrh after all ... (Posted on 9/30/11)

1st impressions from opening the packet where promising. The densely packed black brick held a surprisingly sweet & floral bouquet hinting at a tea that was ready and happy to be drunk now.
Colour: is quite a dark, rich maple syrup amber.
The Bouquet: is lovely, like everything with this tea there seems to be a lot going on just beneath the surface. A careful nose will reveal summer fields along with dark honey'd almost molasses like hints.
Taste: The tea was described on the site as being fine. A good description. It certainly is a very elegant tea, a tea that really needs time and careful drinking to fully enjoy. The over all sense is of a tea that has a lovely rounded mature mellow, creamy flavour but with some lovely subtle meadow sweetness at the back of the pallet. Currently on the 5th flush and still enjoying some lovely sweetness
Over all a wonderful tea. Very creamy, sweet and delicious. For those who are not so fond of the more earthy Pu Erh's, for beginners and more appreciative Pu Erh drinkers alike this is a highly recommended tea
