1999 Vietnamese Cooked Loose Puerh
An excellent loose cooked puerh made by a small artisan producer on China's Yunnan/Vietnam border. The large twisted leaves are bright golden brown and release a clean, satisfying liquor with a good balance of wood and fruit notes.

Quick Brewing Instructions |
Use the gongfu style. A small teapot (or small amount of water) with 3-4 g of tea and hot water: 95°C (203°F) infused for just 20 secs. Reinfuse at least 6 times.

if you like the taste of musty old tea, which is what this is essentially, this is for you. personally interesting to try, but not one i want to drink again. obviously as you'd expect from Canton Tea, no mold or anything on the tea, it just the taste it produces (Posted on 10/14/11)

I ought to say that I am fairly new to puerh and am sort of working my way through some of the teas here but I got a sample of this and was so hooked by the wonderful full, earthy, woody, refreshing flavour that I just had to order 250g bag! This means I shall dedicate my new 'pear' yixing to this [which I suppose means I will need another yixing for sheng at some point]... addictive stuff (Posted on 7/2/11)

I really didn't know if I liked this tea when I first made a pot. There were some intense flavours but were they pleasant? Each new infusion brought out hidden layers of taste which was intriguing if nothing else. I stuck with it and a few pots later I was hooked. There is something wonderful in the way the tea opens up to you if you let it. There are some deep, earthy tastes in each cup and I found myself craving yet another mouthful. Sounds pretentious? A bit maybe but I can't think of another way of expressing it. (Posted on 4/5/11)

I usually am a sheng (raw) puerh drinker, but this one amazed me by his good clear liquor, a slightly astringent taste and a very sweet undertone. Wood and fruit notes are very well balanced. A very pleasant surprise, I feel that it will improve with age. (Posted on 10/2/10)
