Depth and subtlety in a wonderful green tea Review by Paul
Rating
This is amongst the best teas I have tasted. I have tried other dragon well teas and as I rule although I found them interesting I was always more impressed by good oolong or black teas. However, this is a revelation. Yes it has the classic grassy/nutty/fruity notes but it is how they sing together and the depth and smoothness of the flavour in such a light tea which is the difference here.

Highly recommended without any reservation to anyone who enjoys quality tea (Posted on 1/14/12)
It really is a pleasure to be able to enjoy this quality of tea Review by Jamie at It's All About The Leaf

"The dry leaves are long and flat and have a strong vegetal scent to them and they are full leaves, clearly they had to have been hand-picked. There is absolutely no dust in this tea which doesn’t surprise me, I’ve never had a tea from Canton that was dusty...."

A great example of this type of tea. Review by Gretchen @ its All About The Leaf

"I am a big fan of Canton Teas, so it was with anticipation that I opened the packet of Superior Long Jing. And at once, I got the green bean aroma and the visual of the large flat leaves. Ah, Lovely...."

Delicious Review by Vanessa at Teaviews
Rating
"The main body of the tea is equal parts savory and sweet, with the savory side hinting at grainy, nutty, and yes, even green bean, flavors. Overall, this tea still tended towards the delicate side. Therefore, this is an ideal green tea for those that do not typically prefer stronger vegetal flavors. This is a very delicious representative of a Dragonwell tea.."

The biggest hit to date Review by Geoff at Teaviews

"The grassiness was understated and complimented by a subtle sweetness, berry-like with a nutty tinge; like the seeds to a newly-picked grape. Of the hit-or-miss Dragon Wells that I’ve tried, this was the biggest hit to date."

Best Long Jing Around Review by Dorian
Rating
Canton's Superior Dragon Well has, predictably a far more intact leaf shape than their standard grade.
This and other differences do render themselves on the final output of the tea.

This tea is much smoother than the standard grade, i find it doesn't have as much taste variation and is much less prone to bad brewing techniques.

The flavour is a beautifully balanced combination of nutty tones with light ever so slightly astringent grassy notes.
It isn't uite as fruity as say an Anji Baicha but shares many of its traits.

All in all the Long Jing by which other Long Jings are judged.

Brewing technique.

I always brew in a small glass teapot, one like on Jing tea website is perfect.
Add to that 2.5g of dragon well.
heat water to 65c YES, DONT KILL YOUR GREEN TEA!

Everyone always says 70-80 for green, this is really too hot! you don't get any of the beautiful fruity nuances, all you get is a bitter brew which has lost much of its AO content (Citation Needed!)

Steeping times
1st 3min
2nd 3min
3rd 4mins 30
4th If the tea will hold to 4 it will usually take 5-7 minutes, often i don't bother.

In conclusion Canton's Superior Long Jing is one of my fave all time green teas, just behind Anji Baicha. (Posted on 8/20/10)
