"After the first infusion, the wet leaves smell a bit smoky, like burning logs, and quite musty. The infused liquor is a lot lighter, still with mustiness. My first cup left my mouth with a distinctive dry feeling. The earthy, vegetal taste is quite full and leaves a lasting impression on the tongue. Quite frankly, this pu’erh has the biggest aftertaste of any pu’erh I have ever had...."

A very superior raw beeng cha. Well,of course it should be, at this price. The taste comes up very quickly, good woody smoke, phenolic overtones, peaty. There are walnuts, raw, just out of their casings. There are figs too, and acorns. More infusions give smoky bacon, mellowing out to beech-blossom honey. There is a tannic over-taste, with underlying variations of of late-autumn berries and nuts that roll out at subsequent infusions. Think of squirrels, red squirrels, scampering along the branches! A very mellow-tone tea, expensive, but worth the investment of long-term enjoyment and satisfaction. (Posted on 10/14/11)

I should first say that the only puerh i drink is sheng (raw).
I personally find too many of the complex delicious flavours are destroyed with a cooked cake, or brick ( and yes unfortunately i have tried enough to come to that decision).
This fine bing embodies everything you would expect from a raw bing from the early 00's, it is surpassed in my opinion only by Jing Teas legendary Menghai 2003.
Due to the recent canton price drop on this bing it is now almost 1/2 price of the 2003, and to be honest it is a delicious tea in it's on right, even at its previous pricing.
If you enjoy your raw puerh i can recommend this, as i say IMO the second best raw bing currently available in the UK.
