Oriental Beauty

A light and fruity Taiwanese oolong from a competition-winning producer.
Limited Edition Collection - once it's gone, it's gone.

This rare and indulgent Taiwanese oolong is a tea like no other. It is produced in only the tiniest area of north western Taiwan, and possesses some unique characteristics due to its unusual processing style. The leaves aren’t ready to be picked until they have been nibbled by a tiny insect called a jassid during the summer months. This helps to develop a unique, fruity, honeyed flavour in the leaves, giving the tea rich, muscatel notes and an almost spicy aftertaste.

This tea is also available in the Explore Taiwan Bundle.

A superb Taiwanese oolong made in harmony with nature.

Exquisite Citrus Flavours

5

/ 5

This Oolong is amongst the most impressive teas I have tasted. Each mouthful is a burst of lemon and grapefruit, balanced by comforting oaky Oolong flavours. The first sip of each cup evokes a feeling of sitting peacefully in a Chinese pine forest. Multiple infusions bring out fresher, greener notes. A refreshing and warming cup of tranquility which will brighten any day.

A very decent Dong Fang Mei Ren

4

/ 5

Dong Fang Mei Ren teas produce a very high variability of tastes, ranging from intensive plum, dried fruit and honey, to fresh citrussy buttery notes reminiscent of Gao Shan, if grown at a higher elevation. This one from Canton Tea places somwhere in the middle. It's a full-bodied tea with prevailing honey and dried fruit sweetness, yet lacks a bit freshness, for my taste anyway. All in all, a very good tea.

Rich, satisfying and refreshing

This is my favorite canton oolong so far! It has a very satisfying rich full flavour that is refreshing at the same time. This is the kind of tea that i think most people would love.

Oriental Beauty

My second favourite - citrussy, refreshing, long last ing flavours.

So citrussy it is hard to believe this doesn't have added lemon oil. However it is a masterpiece of careful growing and processing instead. My sister tried this - she said she didn't like chinese teas - only 'builders' tea. But she liked this one. It seems to combine the best of both worlds - elements that are familiar to PG Tips fans, with the subtlies and sweetness of fine, whole-leaf teas. The flavours last for infusion after infusion and for ages in the mouth. Lovely stuff, and very refreshing. A perfect pick-me-up at any time of day.

Extraordinary tea

There is something extraordinary about this tea. Just a small spoonful creates cup after refreshing citrussy cup through successive influsions. The flavour just gets better, without seeming to weaken for ages, and lingers forever on the pallette. It may seem at first sight to be expensive, but it is tremendous quality and value. So glad I treated myself.

This Canton Tea Oriental Beauty is a fine perfume on the palate!

Oriental Beauty for me is all about the aroma and that long lingering aftertaste. This Canton Tea Oriental Beauty is lovely in every way. The aroma fills the room as you brew and the floral aftertaste makes the mouth water for more. The jassid-bitten leaves are a beautiful reddish-brown and even the liquor has a nice red hue in a white cup. This Canton Tea Oriental Beauty is a royal tea that I would select for special occasion guests and sipping.

We are privileged to be able to offer you an Oriental Beauty from Deng Guoquan tea garden this year- one of the most highly awarded tea gardens in the whole of Taiwan, who have placed first in the local Miaoli Oriental Beauty Competition and taken 1st place in National Oriental Beauty Competition 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012 and 2011 (awaiting results of 2017)- so this really is a very special tea.

This highly revered oolong is the precious and delicious result of man working in harmony with nature. The tea comes from the Chin Shin Dah Pan cultivar, which grows in a very small area of North West Taiwan, in MaoLi, where it enjoys an abundance of sunlight and humid, tropical air. The leaves of the Oriental Beauty are harvested during the summer, after the local jassids, which are similar to a small cricket, have nibbled around the edges of the leaves. This breaks down the cell structure starting off a crucial oxidation process that draws out the unique flavours, giving the final tea depth, body and sweetness. It’s these little insects that we have to thank for the unique honeyed notes found in this tea.
