Keemun Red

Popular since 1875, very satisfying and slightly nutty.

Originating in Keemun county in 1875, Keemun soon became one of the world's favourite breakfast teas.

Keemun is a famous tea from Anhui Province, the epicentre of high grade Chinese tea production. Neat, chopped black leaves release rich, sweet walnut notes with a slightly malty, oak cask finish. Brewed strong and adding milk gives an exceptionally smooth infusion, but this tea is also very good without and was known as 'The King of Black Teas'.

'This is a lovely tasting breakfast tea, just nice to have in your mouth, chew and roll around your palate.' Canton customer, David

Robust and Rich

Top notch black tea. I initially tried this with just 1 tsp tea and a slight smokiness came through, like a gentle lapsang. This was less evident with 2tsp but a much more full throated, robust cup that's malty, nutty and intense. Almost a bit Shou Pu'erh-like. I tried against an inferior Keemun and this was streets ahead. Got through 250g in no time! Only needs 2min or 1st infusion, 2nd infusion 4-5min not quite as good, still great tea.

Due to being a new buyer of 'tea leaves' and only recently registering onto this website I was very excited on trying this type of tea. I was not disappointed. Honestly, I brought a few other types of teas e.g. green tea, white tea and so on but by far this one has to be my favourite! I will definitely be buying this one again in the future.

Recently bought a few items from Canton Tea (through their Amazon directory) and was amazed with the depth of this specific tea (Gold Tip Keemun). It's velvety, sweet, a little nutty. A great punch for the morning which needs no milk as it's soothing enough to be drunk stripped down to a few leaves. I could drink this all day.

This is a lovely tasting breakfast tea, just nice to have in your mouth, chew and roll around your palate. Good tannin and floral notes, just how a good black tea should taste, and at such an attractive price. This is a tea you will want forever in your caddy. My own comments on CTC instructions on brewing are that they would produce an infusion suitable only for the addition of milk, but they are too strong if you want to savour the natural pure taste. Two teaspoons of tea and two minutes brewing in a clay pot, this is what I have found to be the best way of preparing this really excellent start to the day. Or to have at any time, for that matter. Five stars for quality and value.
