The recipe number for this puerh is T8653. The initial letter T stands for 铁 or tie, the character for iron, which indicates that this is tightly compressed by machine. This is in order to withstand much longer term ageing, particularly in hot and humid environments.
This Iron Cake puerh is made to a classic recipe from the famous Xiaguan tea factory, a major producer of puerh in the ancient city of Dali, Yunnan. This region has an excellent climate, fresh clean water from the mountains, which contributes to the excellent quality of their tea. Xiaguan puerh is very sought after.
