1999 Vietnamese Cooked Loose Puerh
1999 Vietnamese Cooked Loose Puerh
An excellent loose cooked puerh made by a small artisan producer on China's Yunnan/Vietnam border. The large twisted leaves are bright golden brown and release a clean, satisfying liquor with a good balance of wood and fruit notes.
Our Buyer’s notes
“We are very happy with this tea: it shows all the different flavour characteristics you get from a border tea and is ready to drink right now.”

not my cup of tea Review by doug

if you like the taste of musty old tea, which is what this is essentially, this is for you. personally interesting to try, but not one i want to drink again. obviously as you'd expect from Canton Tea, no mold or anything on the tea, it just the taste it produces (Posted on 10/14/11)

Glorious Review by Leopold

I ought to say that I am fairly new to puerh and am sort of working my way through some of the teas here but I got a sample of this and was so hooked by the wonderful full, earthy, woody, refreshing flavour that I just had to order 250g bag! This means I shall dedicate my new 'pear' yixing to this [which I suppose means I will need another yixing for sheng at some point]... addictive stuff (Posted on 7/2/11)

A very interesting tea... Review by Robin

I really didn't know if I liked this tea when I first made a pot. There were some intense flavours but were they pleasant? Each new infusion brought out hidden layers of taste which was intriguing if nothing else. I stuck with it and a few pots later I was hooked. There is something wonderful in the way the tea opens up to you if you let it. There are some deep, earthy tastes in each cup and I found myself craving yet another mouthful. Sounds pretentious? A bit maybe but I can't think of another way of expressing it. (Posted on 4/5/11)

Wonderfully elemental and grounding Review by Jamie at Teaviews.com
-
"I would suggest this as a wonderful puerh for those that like pungent and very earthy puerh. It feels nourishing thanks to the full flavor and lingering nature of the taste, the earthy, woody (even loggy) elements create a drink that is wonderfully elemental and grounding."

Earthy and sweet Review by Troy at Teaviews
-
"...a mellow earthiness that doesn’t overpower, or remind one of soured earth. The flavor is Earthy and sweet, with a clean floral finish like few other cooked puerhs I’ve had before."

Excellent shou puerh Review by Adrian Tudor
-
I usually am a sheng (raw) puerh drinker, but this one amazed me by his good clear liquor, a slightly astringent taste and a very sweet undertone. Wood and fruit notes are very well balanced. A very pleasant surprise, I feel that it will improve with age. (Posted on 10/2/10)
